Dr. Michael Markou, D.O was born in Yonkers, New York. He moved with his family to Clearwater, Florida, in 1977, where he attended Oak Grove Middle School and Clearwater High School. He studied undergrad at the University of South Florida and attended Medical School at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Mo. He officially started Markou Medical in June of 1994 after finishing his Family Medicine Residency at Suncoast Hospital in Largo, Florida. The practice had been previously started and run by Samuel P. Barker, III, D.O., since 1955.
As an Osteopathic Physician, he offers a holistic approach to his patients, focusing on the whole person and not just the disease. In addition to offering cutting-edge treatments for your health, Dr. Markou is one of the first physicians in Florida to offer alternative treatments such as Platelet Rich Plasma (growth factor) injections for orthopedic issues such as arthritis and tendonitis, sparing countless patients from surgery.
